Hugo Martinez was born in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico in 1984. He received his BS in Cognitive Science, with a specialization in Neuroscience, in 2007 from the University of California, San Diego. Martinez currently works at The Walking Company while attending Brooks Institute for his Master of Fine Arts in Photography. He utilizes photography as the tool for exploration into his past through the use of iconography and symbolism that draw from his native Mexican heritage and personal experiences from growing up in a suburban California town.
